An endangered species

sayarsan's picture

For as long as I can remember I have always empathised with the remains of an endangered species. I am not alone here and whether it's a baby seal or a leviathan many people get awfully emotional about their plight and the list is endless these days and always getting longer it's no wonder so many people are also hardened and fail to respond at all. It isn't very smart, they are nature's losers, the examples of creatures which have failed evolution's only test 'On the brink' equals finished and that is an end to it but in reality these are the individuals who have survived to the end and popular sentiment favours a survivor however doomed they appear especially when they are soft and cuddly. Not so much when they are mangy, it's all in the packaging.

Apparently, with insects outnumbering us at a high ratio, and with less than a third of them properly identified, there are insect species going extinct before we got our mitts on them. Been and gone, who knows what we missed.

How unfortunate we were to have missed the pre sapien hominids on Flores in Indonesia. Now that would have been a nice surprise providing sailors didn't wipe them out with v.d. and I wonder what might still be lurking in Siberia.

Is where I think first, when I think of Siberia, and mystery...
