Had a cold these last few days, Tuesday night at 10pm is the first time I've felt OK enough to pen these self-referential thoughts for later.  Used on Sat arvo, and got sick soon after that, I awoke Sunday morning knowing a cold was on.  Though to be honest, the Thursday 2 days prior to usage had me waking, swallowing every 5 seconds, throat feeling like it had been swallowing Arctic air all night.  Perhaps I hovered on the x-axis of sick/healthy for days until the mx+c of gabo made the decision for my body.

Tonight I have stopped using sinus tablets, the cheapwhore of hammer that they are, a touch of codeine and a lotta paracetamol.  So tonight I find out how truly ill I am. S lent me half her dose, which equals my 27.5 dose pretty much, so I doubled on Sunday and have felt fairly insualted from the illness since then.

I managed to make functional a database connection from my website to a postgreSQL database, now I have to find out how to fill it.  If you click on the "last used" line on my homepage it takes you to interesting facts about my recent usage.  Woo hoo.  Turing never would have envisaged this.

Reading Accelerando (Stross) on R Rucker's personal advice.  Yest, the maestro wrote to me.  Eight months after my email he replied.  I haven't replied to him yet, don't wish to seem too keen.  Accelerando is a novel of the future spinning towards the Singularity (where change happens so fast you cannot predict the society you came from by looking at it now, well sort of...).  And tonight on Foreign Correspondent we saw tribes of Japanese youth suffering from the very Future Shock Mr Toffler wrote about decades ago and Stross reiterates in his work.  Young girls cutting their wrists on a daily basis to insulate themselves against the pace of change.  Makes junkie scarification seem positively prehistoric.

I hope I live long enough to see junk shelved as a hammer used to achieve a thumbtacks push, a time when individual-tailored drugs can mold the mindset infinitely less crudely than heroin's simple On/Off setting .

Future come take me. I'm ready.
