Australia Day.  Gabo craziness.  Finished an overdue computer setup job last night, got paid in cash, got a gram straight away, half eaten immediately, rest for brekkie, then went for a drive to Mt French, walked around the grass trees for an hour or two then drove back to Brissie at high speed and blew the last of my beans on a final half weight.  Less than 24 hours and $550 gone - I'd say "I still got it" if there was anything to be proud of but there ain't...That's the downside of gabo, you be good for six days (which seem like 600) then you can still blow everything you have in just one day.

At least I got a PC built I guess, hard drive problems, I've never seen a modern BIOS detect a modern (40GB Seagate) hard drive incorrectly.  It came up with 1024 heads which I had to increase to 16,383 heads.  Manually.  One by one, hitting the plus key to increase the number of heads by one.  Luckily a D-type battery caught my eye and fitted over the numeric keypad plus key.  Twenty minutes of resting took it up the requisite amount.  I ended up doing this 3 times, what with CMOS clears and other tests.   Then the HDD starts transferring data at UDMA 2 not 5, which I believe is a slower data transfer speed, so I feel there may be something wrong with the hard drive.  I backed up the client's data early on (Ghost) so if it crashes this week I can easily restore.  I guess I've written all this in an effort to minimise my self deprecation when the gabo wears off.

Cooked nutloaf, resolved to beat gabo.  Heard that in UK a scientis has worked out that this week in January is the worst week of the year in terms of depression.  Something to do with broken resolutions, clashes with family at Christmas etc etc.  Sounds about right so I'm ignoring my feelings of defeat.
