Burmese govt vows action against drug traffickers

Burma’s government has pledged to take strong action against drug producers and traffickers across the country.

The 'plug in' seems to have been upgraded.

At a glance it seems like this version has features that were absent from the first.

Johnny Htoo working with KNU

While perusing the news from home at I noticed in the article about a possible summit between armed groups that leading the talks was

POPE DIES! Beatification awaits approval of new Pope.

Canonization is probably not far off for Hey Seuss certainly the most saintly of popes in the past few centuries.

Scoring Misadventures #1

I have a personal line-in-the-sand - well, that's not a good descriptor, as I often cross it, perhaps it should be called a warning sign, or an alarm bell. Whatever you call it, I know to take stock when I find myself scoring at lunch time.
And last week, during the hell of Christmas, I found myself doing this not once, but twice in a row. I should point out that I only have a thirty minute lunch hour, and I usually score...around Greenslopes, which is a twenty minute drive from work. So just committing to score is committing to getting back late from lunch.

Methadone on the rise

As from yesterday morning, I am now paying $38.50 per week for my methadone (brand:Biodone) dose. In one day it went from $28.50 per week to $38.50. We used to receive a discount for paying on a weekly basis, this has been deleted also. The explanation given was that the people receiving tablets (presumably bupe) could not receive the same discount, so it was not fair to them.
If there are any bupe users out there, perhaps they can explain this thinking?

Tarzan of the Apes

The resident in No.4 has been something of a nuisance since it arrived and it seems that everybody here is more than ready to give up on waiting until it adjusts to having a home. The complex was built with money from the Rudd Labor government as a way to shorten the Housing Commission waiting lists in the States without placing new strain on their bureaucracies and is managed by a company (BRIC) that formed out of the amalgamation of several housing co-operatives that had allready existed for some years.

Thank you gear, thank you metro, thank you valium

Just a quick note of thanks to these three true Santa's little helpers. Gear covered me on the morning shift, from the 7am shot that got me through breakfast with a predictably red-eyed and morose father, his first Christmas in near half a century without his wife.
Then metro did the lions share, as it oft does, from 11am to evening, visiting partners' family, long drives and small talk. Valium popped in to stretch that shift into morphia- the sleep, not the drug.

My first Tracker

was in my head after returning from surgery and there was no way i could maintain my daily intake of ~750mg of morphine base. I had mentioned to the emergency doctor about this complication and had said "if i can't get any help for this (the morph) i'll go home" and was only half joking. He probably assumed i was serious. Anyway i was ordered 50mg Morphine 6th hourly but it was a weekend so i expected that come Monday some senior doctor would show up from the real world demanding "what in god's name is going on?".

Mr Burroughs I presume

Well this wouldn't be a very good junkie site if I did not at least post a link to Burroughs' lovely Christmas piece, A Junkie's Christmas....

Brisvegas Christmas

So, how does a junkie (of the smack flavour) approach Christmas? Well, I'm not a Christmas denier, I know it exists and cannot be avoided whilst family still lives. So I do as I always do - prepare the chemical defences. More than any other time of the year, I ensure supply lines are clear, misinformation and balderdash is removed form the equation.

Website beta testers note!

Over the next week or two I am trying out a variety of 'themes' - default layouts. I can actually set it up so you can change themes yourself, from a menu link on the left...would you use that? This theme is called .... "Zen" - What do you think?

On hospitals, and pain, and truth.

So you have an abscess forming.. you go to your doctor and get yourself some antibiotics either with the truth or fabricated skin infection depending on your relationship... some flucox should fix it up no worries, it covers 80% or bacterial skin infections.

An atypical methadone regimen.

Methadone was always something i looked down on as a cop out. Something like a government approved drug addict is how i looked at it until i found that even after being an almost trouble free client for nearly 20 years there was still plenty of room for disapproval by them that makes the rules. In the beginning i consulted an old associate with some experience in these things and was advised to consult a private psychiatrist (Dr. Eastwell) who is no longer practicing unfortunately for brisbin's drug addicts.
