Methadone

Biodone or methadone. Metro.

Time to start tracking my usage again.

It was New Year's Eve that I indulged at a social gathering of neighbours, that is I ate some party food and had a glass of beer. I had an enjoyable time of it but tired quickly and by 9pm I was ready to quit and came home to bed where i spent a few hours drifting in an out of sleep but not really sick, I didn't vomit but was queasy enough to shy away from any biodone and didn't look at my 100mg bottle of maintenance dose.

It's that time of the month....

when the legalities of treatment for opiate addiction demand that I provide a script (prescription) for either Methadone, Biodone, Subutext or Suboxone to cover me for the coming month. "So?" I hear myself ask. Well to be frank, as in the girl who kept a diary of her time in a cupboard during the Nazi occupation of her country, it has been so long since I made a blog entry that I feel it incumbent upon me to maintain continuity. This is a construct of my own subjective notions and have nothing to do with the nature of blogging or the wider Collective Intelligence.

Volcano capped. Laval flow ceased.

In other blogs I have referred to a residence in Baynes St at Margate. 'Around Here' gives a taste of social life in one of the most dysfunctional places I have ever lived in.

Qld Pharmacies working with Biala Needle Exchange

If you've been a junkie in Brisbane for the last five years or more, you have probably noticed the decline in availability of clean needles from chemists.

What a Waste!

So, I'm back on track one might say, using the 'Usage Tracker' and already I have noticed a slight moderation in my behaviour with Benzos. I think about it more often and think about how much I take at any time. Like 4 o'clock this morning when I took 5mg instead of 10-15mg, and still I managed a solid 4hr sleep.

Sewage measures drug usage

An interesting article on a scientist's collation of data on drug levels in sewage - showing weekend spikes in recreationals and a steady dose of methadone - what I would have expected.

Around Here

With the coming of summer this place is coming back to life after what has been a quiet winter. Drano upstairs is getting loudly pissed on rum with Mick (the Man). Mick is the 40 year old who bashed a recent amputee to move in on the woman he was bludging off. Ned is an unfortunate sort of woman who has several daughters all remote and distant, a junkie in Sydney, another in a psych hospital permanently and the third in Adelaide where she hopes to move soon. The details are beyond me but she had been the consort of a park drunk for years before moving here where he followed of course.

Artist Adam Cullen dies

Archibald prize winner, for his portrait of David Wenham in 2000. Not killed directly by an overdose, as far as we know, but it seems he had multiple organ failure over the last year or so.

The power of a cold

I awoke at 4am yesterday with the concrete realisation that I would not be going in to work. A cold that was just a talking point when I had gone to bed had promoted itself to being totally in charge of my destiny for the foreseeable future.

What impresses me about sickness like this is the way it removed my normal desire for opiate intake. When I went to bed later that night I had scored only once (been using 3 times a day lately) and had only drunk a quarter of my normal metro takeaway dose.
